What's happening:
We released a huge update to Advanced Comprehension Therapy, both in the stand-alone version and in Advanced Language Therapy 4-in-1.
This FREE update gives you ALL NEW stimuli in the Identify and Build activities.
- Identify: Now has 11 levels with nearly 700 stimuli, removing all pronoun-based levels and replacing them with richer vocabulary and more sentence types.
- Build: Now has 20 levels with nearly 1200 stimuli, allowing you to practice nouns and pronouns in more sentence types.
Overall, you're getting MORE exercises with greater variety. The photos better represent the diversity in our world, and there's less focus on gender.
For example, instead of "The man washes the car" and "The woman washes the car" in which you have to use clues like hairstyle and clothing to assume each person's gender, you'll now see "The farmer leads the cow" and "The farmer milks the cow" which requires comprehension of the noun and verb in a much more meaningful therapy exercise.
We've also taken this opportunity to upgrade the voice in these activities, giving you the same voice as in our Language Therapy apps. The recorded voice cannot be adjusted for rate or accent as the automated voice could, but it's much easier to understand and most people strongly prefer it.
Why is this happening?
It came to our attention that there were 3 big problems with the Identify & Build activities, namely: 1) gender labeling, 2) pronoun assumption, and 3) lack of diversity in the images. We wanted to fix these problems. We consulted with SLP AC Goldberg of Transplaining for the best course of action to make all users feel more comfortable using our apps and not reinforce stereotypes.
When is this happening?
The update was released on July 5, 2022 on both iOS and Android devices.
What do I need to do?
If you want this change to take effect, simply update your app or allow it to automatically update. There is no charge for all this new content.
*** You will need to select the levels you want on the Levels tab going into both exercises, as several are new. ***
